Santamaria Palace Mercanti Street Salerno

The location of the property is original. The B&B is located on the first floor of an ancient historic building, Palazzo Santamaria, which was built between the late 14th and early 15th century and was the seat of the Archaeological Superintendence of the Campania provinces of Avellino, Benevento and Salerno.

Inside the Palazzo Santamaria, whose access still preserves a wonderful ancient wooden door with the support structures in worked lava stone, it is possible to see the remains incorporated in a tower, part of a palaced house, whose first written trace dates back to 1666. The “tower houses” were built in the Norman era by wealthy families and many of them are still legible in the uneven fabric of the ancient village of Salerno.

The tower of Palazzo Santamaria is also depicted in a painting by Michae Theile, exhibited in the section of Foreign Artists of the Provincial Art Gallery. From Castel Terracena you can still see the battlements above the tower.

The engineer who oversaw the renovation of the building claims that the same, covered by archaeological restrictions, dates back to the year 1000.

    Il B&B Peter Pan è centrale e quindi ottimo per spostarsi a piedi nel centro storico. La stanza risulta ampia e pulita con un bagno spazioso dotato di doccia grande. Le proprietarie sono 2 sorelle gentili, disponibili e pronte a rispondere a eventuali richieste. Buona la colazione.

    Pulizia eccellente, posizione centralissima e comoda, collegata benissimo dalla stazione e dai traghetti per la costiera amalfitana, camere super moderne! disponibilità da parte dei proprietari per qualsiasi esigenza del cliente, vasta scelta nella colazione, dal dolce al salato. Lo consiglio vivamente!! Ottima esperienza!

  • La camera è in un palazzo d'epoca, situato in pieno centro ed è un un'ambiente molto ben arredato e molto pulito. Letti comodi. La proprietaria, Maria Angela, molto gentile, accogliente, una persona molto intelligente. La struttura osserva correttamente le norme anti covid.

    Location in the historic center, in the pedestrian area Via Dei Mercanti, despite this easily reachable by leaving the car in the covered guarded parking lot (20 euros x 24 h), the Central Parking car park is not linked to the B&B, it must be booked separately. Spacious room, in a historic building but with new, modern and comfortable furniture. Extremely welcoming and kind owner. Enjoy your breakfast! Excellent quality / price ratio, highly recommended !!!

  • Absolutely lovely. We came from Ireland after a long lockdown we can't recommend better than this place, the staff absolutely kind well organized and the place is just so new, cleaned with air conditioner in the room and in the center, easy to arrive to the port. We enjoyed our stay there. We were really happy we chose that place and we're highly recommend this place.

    The Peter Pan B&B is central and therefore excellent for walking around the historic center. The room is large and clean with a spacious bathroom with a large shower. The owners are 2 kind sisters, available and ready to answer any requests. Good breakfast.
